Review

This is the first Will Self novel that I have read, and I consider it a very strong start! The basic premise of the story is clever and inherently funny, from small details, like the 'flying rats'[pigeons] to the origins of future Britains holy text. The thought that has gone into this novel is wide ranging in scope and is also readily apparent. The story feels as much like an anecdote from a distant land as it does a future novel. I have a few other Will Self books, that I have purchased on the strength of having read "The Book of Dave", I think this sums up my feelings on the book better than my clumsy words.
